YMCA Gloucester County Riptides Season is currently underway.
Check back in the summer for information about Swim Team 2010-2011.

The four-member 100-yard boys’ medley swimming relay team from the Gloucester County YMCA won the state championship at the New Jersey YMCA 8 & Under Championships held Sunday, Feb. 7, at the Somerset Hills YMCA in Basking Ridge, N.J.

A total of 33 YMCAs from across the state competed in the event.

The members of the winning team are: Carl Hausman, 8, Nicholas Umile, 8, Nathan
Jess, 8, and Payton Ward, 7.

The YMCA of GLoucester County RIPTIDES Swim Team is designed for beginner through advanced level swimmers.  As a "Riptide" they will have the opportunity to develop into the best swimmer they can, while learning to accept defeat, as well as victory. 
Our goals for participants include:
1. Developing self-esteem
2. Learning teamwork
3. Accepting responsibility
4. Having fun
5. Improving health & fitness
6. Learning & practicing character values
7. Improve speed & endurance

All swimmers will focus on stroke mechanics, times, and endurance to suit their individual needs.  The team participates in 5-9 dual meets in the South Jersey Swim League and the League Championships. 

Swim Meets:
The Riptides swim in dual-meet format against teams in the South Jersey Swim League.  A typically season has 7-9 meets usually on Saturday afternoons. 

Squad Placement & Meet the coaches:
Sunday, September 27, 2009 at 5:00pm
Sunday, October 11, 2009 at 5:00pm
(Please bring a copy of your child's birth certificate)

Meeting to take place in the front lobby at 5:00pm.  Come to one of those times to learn about theYMCA Riptides, what's involved, and meet the coaches.  Open to ages 6-18 years, who know at least freestyle and back strokes.  Parents meeting will start at 5:00 pm, with tryouts beginning at the conclusion of the meeting.

The front desk will be open from 5:00-8:00pm for swim team registration only.
Current Riptide swimmers will receive separate information regarding the team.
