LIFEGUARD

Position Summary:

The Lifeguard creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while promoting and maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck and surrounding areas in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Certifications required: Current, YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard, Pro CPR/AED and First Aid.
  • Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
  • Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
  • Completion of all YMCA’s training as assigned.

Shifts Available:
Monday – Fridays, 6 am – 10 am, 3 pm – 7 pm
Saturdays, 9 am – 12 pm
Sundays, 9 am – 12 pm

SITE COORDINATOR

Position Summary:

Provides direct supervision to a group of children in a before/after school program. Creates positive,
nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers.
Promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as
part of the overall SACC experience.

Qualifications:

  1. High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
    2. Previous experience working with children, preferably in a child care setting.
    3. At least 18 years of age.
    4. CPR, first aid, AED certifications, and child abuse prevention training within 90 days of hire date.
    5. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

Shifts available in the five schools in three districts: Wenonah, Woodbury and South Harrison:

Monday – Friday: 6:45 am – 8:30 am, 2:30 pm – 6:00 pm.

ASSISTANT SITE COORDINATOR

Position Summary:

Provides direct supervision to a group of children in a before/after school program. Qualifications:

  1. Must be at least 16 years of age.
    2. Previous experience working with children, preferred but not required.
    3. Should have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, and able to relate well to children.
    4. Willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the program goals.
    5. CPR, first aid, AED certifications, and child abuse prevention training within 90 days of hire date.
    6. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

Shifts available in the five schools in three districts: Wenonah, Woodbury and South Harrison:

Monday – Friday: 6:45 am – 8:30 am,  2:30 pm – 6:00 pm.

Welcome Center Attendant

Position Summary: 

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Welcome Center Attendant at Gloucester County YMCA maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals. The Welcome Center Attendant responds to member and guest needs and handles all Welcome Center operations.

Qualifications: 

  • The successful candidate must have a high school diploma or a GED and be at least 18 years old.
  • Strong attention to detail required as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications required within 30 days of hire.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic
    segments of the community
  • Basic knowledge of computers and demonstrate ability to use specific Membership software programs and software after completing training.
  • Ability to work with many interruptions, handling multiple tasks in a calm and responsible way always affirming the member (e.g., scan and smile, nod, wave while answering the phone, if alone).

Shifts Available:

Monday – Fridays: 6:00 am – 12:00 pm, 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Saturdays: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Sundays: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
